These guys really know what they are doing. The show is just incredible. I get goosebumps every time I watch it. The last show that really persevered in my mind was Alexander McQueen’s 2009. But it was his vision and strong imagery of the pieces that made a memorable impression. Now, Dolce and Gabanna introduce a mellow, more off the streets designs and play with your mind through building upon the show, hence a dream world around their pieces. Which fashion is all about- external expression of your inner dream world. Love it.
Fashion is surely one of my passions. I love how it offers great means of self-expression and subtle ways of projecting freedom. I love it when I succeed to express my different moods through what I am wearing. When I feel like a “strong independent woman” I put on my suits, heels and convey my empowered state of mind. Whenever I feel feminine, tiny and vulnerable I put on dresses, soft colours and style the look up with romantic accessories. But most of the time I play around with the two extremes by putting on classic pieces and adding romantic elements. So basically, by the choice of clothing one could tell what is going on the inside. Which makes fashion an amazing tool for non-verbal communication with others. The thing that bothers me, though is that fashion is often used for highly commercial, brain washing purposes. I hate it when the element of fun and experimenting is removed and you end up with only what’s expensive and “on vogue”. With conformity- one of my greatest enemies. As Vivienne Westwood says “We have to wear clothes, so why not have fun with them”. So when I saw this: www.theuniformproject.com I was overjoyed! For me, it shows how we can have fun with fashion, make a statement, and do something good for other people. Not just use fashion for money pursuit, but contribute to society on so many levels.
